Coming on the Plastic Surgeon Podcast this week is Dr. Sajan’s patient, Mercedes Christion. Mercedes underwent breast augmentation surgery with Dr. Sajan and was one of the patients featured in his TV series, realdrseattle®.
Mercedes always had some negative feelings and self confidence issues concerning her chest and its size. She found herself comparing herself to other women in her life with larger chests and considered breast augmentation from a fairly early age. Eventually, after suffering multiple work injuries that placed her on disability and caused her to suffer from muscle atrophy, the size of her chest was even more noticeable. This is when Mercedes began her research into plastic surgeons.
Mercedes followed Dr. Sajan on social media and was impressed with his many breast augmentation before and after photos. They were exactly the results she wanted. When she met with Dr. Sajan for a consultation, she was also glad that he did not encourage her to go bigger and respected her wishes to stay a natural size.

Joining Dr. Javad Sajan on the Plastic Surgeon Podcast this week is his patient, Sarah Ashbaugh. Sarah underwent en bloc breast implant removal after experiencing breast implant illness. Breast implant illness is a hotly contested topic within the plastic surgery community. In general, breast implant illness, or BII, refers to a collection of various symptoms that can occur months or even years after breast augmentation, as a reaction to breast implants.
Sarah first had a breast augmentation in Colorado in 2012. She had always had small breasts and knew that she wanted breast implants for many years. After a startlingly quick consultation where she didn’t try on implant sizers, she underwent the surgery.
Over the next seven years, Sarah began to experience various symptoms that she never had before. For example, she started having food allergies, headaches, recurrent sinus infections, and out-of-ordinary fatigue. Originally, Sarah was diagnosed with a systemic yeast infection. However, after getting a second opinion, her doctor recommended getting her breast implants out.
Eventually, Sarah scheduled a consultation with Dr. Sajan. Discussing her options, Sarah ended up undergoing an en bloc breast implant removal. Tune in to find out the results of Sarah’s surgery.

This week on the Plastic Surgeon Podcast Dr. Sajan talks with his patient Ebo Barton. Ebo is a local slam poet who underwent FTM top surgery with Dr. Sajan. He discusses his past of identifying first as a lesbian and later as a transgender and non-binary person. Ebo also discusses the importance of having autonomy over one’s body and loving yourself, but know that you have the power to change yourself however you want.
After growing up and graduating from high school and vocational training in fashion, Ebo decided to join the military. The military brought Ebo to the Pacific Northwest. Serving in the Navy, Ebo was sexually assaulted during their time as a soldier. Eventually, this led to their honorable discharge.
Following discharge, Ebo discovered the poetry community in Seattle. Having written some poetry, Ebo started to become active within this community and after a few readings, garnered large scale support. Ebo was able to relive their experiences this way and began to find support as they began their gender transition.
Ebo chose to undergo FTM top surgery with Dr. Sajan after a consultation where Dr. Sajan provided detailed and personalized recommendations. This made a good impression along with Dr. Sajan’s Instagram and Snapchat. Ebo then felt confident undergoing surgery with Dr. Sajan and is so pleased with the outcome.

The Plastic Surgeon Podcast and Dr. Sajan welcome his patient, Evy Hauntings. Evy is an OnlyFans model who underwent breast augmentation surgery with Dr. Sajan in September 2020. She discusses her struggle to gain weight, which led to having smaller breasts and making her look extremely thin. Knowing for a while that she wanted breast implants, Evy found Dr. Sajan through a recommendation from another online creator.
Evy grew up in the Bay Area. Having grown up with little food and in abusive situations led to Evy’s natural skinniness. As she grew older, she tried to gain weight because she wanted a modeling career but believed she was too skinny to be successful. Trying to gain weight, Evy visited doctors and dieticians who found no physical or mental reason why she could not gain weight. Therefore, Evy began considering plastic surgery to get a fuller chest.
To raise money for her breast augmentation, Evy created an OnlyFans account. She already had a following online and many of her follows were willing to pay for her content and additional content. Charging $50 per month (among the highest monthly charges on all of OnlyFans), it took her a few months to save enough money to come to Dr. Sajan.
Evy was already set on surgery with Dr. Sajan. Due to her small chest, she believed she would need larger implants such as 600cc or higher. However, Dr. Sajan recommended 440cc breast implants to better fit her frame. Evy loves her results and feels more confident after surgery.

This week on the Plastic Surgeon Podcast Dr. Sajan welcomes his patient, Paris Hall. Paris underwent a mommy makeover surgery which consisted of a tummy tuck and Brazilian butt lift performed together. Performing both procedures together is rare and Dr. Sajan is one of the few plastic surgeons who will perform them in one session. As a busy mother, Paris preferred not to split the surgery into multiple sessions.
Originally from Houston, Paris moved to Portland for work. When her father was diagnosed with cancer, she quit her job and spent all of her time caring for her dad. During this time, Paris realized that she wanted her job to serve a higher purpose and decided to enter the medical field as a nurse. After her father’s death, Paris decided to undergo surgery because she realized how short life was and that she should stop living with negative feelings towards her appearance.
Following her surgery with Dr. Sajan, Paris loves her results and found the motivation to alter her lifestyle to maintain her new body. Dropping four sizes and in a better place mentally, Paris discusses how her mommy makeover changed her life for the better.

On Episode 15 of the Plastic Surgeon Podcast, Dr. Sajan sits down with his patient Tracey Khuc who underwent breast augmentation surgery. Tracey talks about why she decided to get breast augmentation, what it was like choosing her breast implant size, and how she went about telling the people in her life.
Tracey decided to undergo breast augmentation because she always had naturally small breasts. Waiting until her twenties with the hopes of seeing her breasts develop more to no avail, she decided to seek out breast augmentation surgery.
Starting out at around an A cup, Tracey initially wanted to be around a large C or small D cup. After trying on breast implant sizers, she liked the 450cc and round shape. After a discussion of her goals with Dr. Sajan and giving him the range of breast implant sizes she liked, she went for 495cc Medium Height High Profile Anatomical gummy bear breast implants.

In episode eleven of Clinic Talk, Dr. Sajan and Sabrina Sajan start off by recounting their Valentine’s Day trip to the Maldives. The relaxing retreat involved scuba diving, a few too many massages, and some well deserved rest.
From clinic this week, Sabrina describes how a job candidate nearly jumped her interviewer. After taking off her mask and cussing out a patient, the candidate became angry when told that the interview was no longer necessary. All while avoiding putting her mask back on.
Next, Sabrina also reads out an Instagram message she received. The person appeared to want a consultation with Dr. Sajan, but certainly had a strange way of asking. The Plastic Surgeon Podcast welcomes Dr. Sajan’s patient, Jennifer Hutchinson. Jennifer underwent a breast augmentation with Dr. Sajan. She discusses her motivations for surgery and experience through the entire process, from consultation through postoperative care.
Jennifer’s case was unique because her breasts were asymmetrical due to pregnancy and breastfeeding. Her breasts were essentially two different sizes. This made it difficult for Jennifer to fit into tops and bikinis. As her children got older and she quit breastfeeding, she knew it was time to seek the breast augmentation she wanted since having her first child.
Jennifer spent a long time researching doctors and initially decided to go with a different doctor in California. After getting cold feet, she found Dr. Sajan’s website and social media. Dr. Sajan starts with a story about a surgical tech who came in for a job shadow and did not seem to know proper surgical etiquette. She also claimed to have an allergic reaction to an N95 mask?! Regardless, this applicant was unlike any other who came in for a job shadow.
Sabrina then tells the story of a patient who threatened to call the police after getting charged the no show fee. Having missed two previous appointments was charged the fee for failing to cancel or reschedule their appointment according to the cancellation policy. They then called back and threaten to show up with the police.
The final story explains the importance of ensuring patient safety and the consequences it can have in the form of nasty Yelp reviews from a patient that Dr. Sajan did not perform surgery on. She also discusses some of her experiences of being misgendered in public and how she overcame those obstacles. Eventually, Brooke decided to undergo MTF breast augmentation with Dr. Sajan as part of their male to female transition.
Living an active lifestyle, it was important to Brooke that her breast implants not get in the way. Having a friend that had undergone the same surgery with Dr. Sajan, Brooke scheduled a consultation. Sabrina and Dr. Sajan also discuss other concerns patients have called with, such as, one patient who believed their nipple fell off. The final story tells the sad circumstances of a woman who had a breast augmentation out of the country and experienced her breast implant popping out during a mammogram.

This episode details Jessica’s story of why she sought a tummy tuck from Dr. Sajan, finding out she had necrosis, and the how Dr. Sajan treated her. Despite going through a complication that would easily deter many patients, Jessica’s bright spirit persevered through Saturday treatments with Dr. Sajan, caring for the wounds at home, and healing from the inside out.
Necrosis is a not often talked about complication that can happen after any surgery. While rare, Jessica’s story highlights how complications don’t have to ruin amazing results.

Episode 11 of the Plastic Surgeon Podcast features Dr. Sajan’s patient, Kennedy Pridgen. Growing up in small town Virginia and the child of a pastor, Kennedy tells her story of discovering her transgender identity. From a young age, Kennedy began questioning her gender. By the time she was a teenager, she identified as openly gay.
By college, Kennedy explored the drag scene. Eventually, this led to her coming to terms with her identity as a transgender woman. When she came out to her parents and it did not go well, Kennedy knew she wanted to leave Virginia. Taking an internship opportunity in Seattle, Kennedy moved across the country with little money and not knowing anyone.
Kennedy wanted to medically transition, but without the ability to do so before, she began to explore her transition opportunities in Seattle. She started hormones and got to know more people in the trans community. After talking with friends, she considered MTF breast augmentation and received a recommendation to go to Dr. Sajan.
She started a GoFundMe and received support from the LGBT community for her top surgery. Dr. Sajan performed her transgender breast augmentation with 800cc breast implants, the biggest possible breast implants. Dr. Sajan also had the added challenge of placing the implants through the armpit.

Episode Nine of the Plastic Surgeon Podcast tells the captivating story of a transgender marine, Josie Noel. Josie was assigned male at birth, but now identifies as a transgender woman. Having grown up in a religious and conservative family, Josie was unable to come out or come to terms with her identity until much later in life.
At 26, after moving to Seattle from Yakima, Josie decided to join the Marine Corps. Looking back, Josie refers to this time in her life as “passive suicide”. Feeling shame due to questions about gender, Josie felt the most shame about her body during her time in the Marines.
Josie served in Iraq. Once she returned to the States and after so many near death experiences, she started to come to terms with her body and transgender identity. Josie’s story is truly amazing and shows that transgender transitions are not linear. Eventually, Josie underwent male-to-female breast augmentation with Dr. Sajan. On Episode Eight of the Plastic Surgeon Podcast, Dr. Sajan sits down with his patient, Gabriel Neuman. Gabriel underwent FTM top surgery with Dr. Sajan. Gabriel discusses his journey in transitioning from female to male.
His story begins with a tumultuous childhood where Gabriel ended up in foster care. This unsteady start to his life meant that Gabriel did not discover he was transgender until he graduated college. He discusses what being transgender means and the first signs of determining he was transgender.
Gabriel’s story is of discovering his transness later than many transgender people do. He also discusses leaving a six year relationship due to gender dysphoria, taking testosterone and binding, and finding Dr. Sajan to perform their FTM top surgery.

On Episode Three of the Plastic Surgeon Podcast, Dr. Sajan sits down with a fellow physician, Dr. Alexandra Kohles to discuss her experiences with plastic surgery. Nearly twenty years ago, Dr. Kohles underwent a breast augmentation in Chile where she got textured silicone implants. At the time, these breast implants were the most modern implant. These implants are no longer on the market.
After experiencing hardness in her breast, Dr. Kohles realized she needed breast revision surgery. She came to Dr. Sajan where he removed her implants and corrected capsular contracture. He then placed new implants under the muscle.
Along with the story of her breast augmentation and revision surgeries, Dr. Kohles discusses taking control of femininity with plastic surgery, capsular contracture, and finding confidence with breast implants.
